Azerbaijani-Russian diplomatic relations marked in Yekaterinburg

Azerbaijan`s Consulate General in Yekaterinburg held an event to mark the 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.

The event brought together MPs from Sverdlovsk oblast, employees of the Russian Foreign Ministry, heads of the Ministry of International and Foreign Economic Relations and diplomats.
Azerbaijani consul general Sultan Gasimov told of achievements gained in Azerbaijan, successful development of political and economic relations established with Russia after national leader Heydar Aliyev`s return to the power. Mr. Gasimov stressed all-round development of relations in political, economic, cultural and scientific spheres. Mr. Gasimov recalled ideas expressed by Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Dmitry Medvedev.

Russian MP Yevgeny Artukh conveyed greetings of Chairman of Duma of Sverdlovsk oblast Ludmila Babushkina. He said 20 years ago, relations between Azerbaijan and Russia were established in a new political format.

Chief of the organizing department of the Ministry of international and foreign economic relations Larisa Sharf, head of the office of Belarus embassy in Yekaterinburg Victor Polyanin also extended their greetings. A reception was also given in honor of participants.
