TurkPA, European Parliament eye coop

Secretary General of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic speaking countries (TurkPA) Ramil Hasanov met Wednesday Dick Toornstra, director of the Office for Promotion of Parliamentary Democracy of the European Parliament.

Hasanov briefed Toornstra on the activity, particularly international relations of TurkPA. He said TurkPA attaches great importance to cooperation with international organizations including European Parliament.

According to Hasanov, TurkPA plays an important role in promotion of democracy and parliamentary diplomacy among member states. He added joint activity of parliamentary and traditional diplomacy contributes to ensuring regional and global security.

The sides praised relationship between TurkPA and European Parliament. They said the agreement on experience exchange program signed between TurkPA and European Parliament had opened a new stage in development of cooperation.
