'Azerbaijan, China support each-other within int'l organizations'

The 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and China was marked in Beijing. The event on the occasion brought together state officials and representatives of the embassy of Azerbaijan in China.

Addressing the event deputy chairperson of Chinese parliament Jan Cunchi praised the level of relationship between Azerbaijan and China. She noted China was interested in strengthening traditional friendly relations with Azerbaijan and cooperation in various spheres.

Azerbaijani ambassador Latif Gandilov spoke of the accomplishments achieved in his country in all spheres after it regained independence.

The diplomat said China was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan. He underlined the role of the importance of national leader Heydar Aliyev`s visit to China in development of bilateral ties. The ambassador added President Ilham Aliyev`s trips to China in 2005 and 2008 contributed to boosting relations between the two countries, as well.

Gandilov also noted Azerbaijan and China support each-other within international organizations.
“China supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and official Baku backs One China policy. At present Azerbaijan-China economic cooperation expanded very much.”

Vice foreign minister of China Cheng Guoping handed over a special publication prepared by the ministry on the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations to ambassador Gandilov.
