
Azerbaijan supports Kofi Annan's plan to address the Syrian problem and is ready to assist in the peaceful resolution of the issue, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov told reporters on Monday.
Azerbaijan's position fully coincides with the position of Annan and Arab League, which is to put an end to violence.
The UN says more than 9,000 people have died since pro-democracy protests erupted in Syria a year ago. The Syrian government insists it is combating "armed terrorist gangs" who are seeking to destabilize Syria.
