Ingushetia`s leader, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, has praised Azerbaijan`s achievements. “Azerbaijan is today rapidly developing in all spheres of life,” Yevkurov told representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
He noted the Ingush and Azerbaijani people had ancient history, culture and traditions. “The history of Ingushetia and Azerbaijan has witnessed many wars and struggles to ensure national rights and preserve national culture, customs and traditions.”
On the Ingush-Azerbaijani relations, Yevkurov said “there are ample opportunities to develop them, in particular, after the signing of a cooperation agreement in October of 2011”.
“This includes favorable conditions for Azerbaijani investors, developing cultural relations, strengthening the role of diaspora. In short, we have everything, and what we need to do is just to use these opportunities for the prosperity of our brotherly people,” the Ingush leader added.
Representative of the All-Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis in the North Caucasus Federal District of Russia, Shahin Amirkhanov, thanked the Ingush leader for “attention and support of the Azerbaijani diaspora”.
He said Ingushetia was home to nearly 2,000 Azerbaijanis. “For Ingushetia this is a large diaspora, and we plan to open an office for leaders of our diaspora in Nazran soon.” Representative of the Azerbaijani diaspora, Rahmatulla Babayev, spoke of the work to discover graves of Azerbaijanis who died while defending Malgobek district during the World War Two in 1942-1943.
The Ingush leader said he supported the work, and instructed appropriate authorities to allocate a site in Malgobek for a common grave. Yevkurov said he planned to invite an Azerbaijani delegation for Victory Day celebrations, including family members of those who died in Malgobek.
The Ingush leader also touched upon the preparation for the Day of Azerbaijani culture in Ingushetia, and instructed his aide Vakha Evloyev and minister of external relations, national policy, press and information Yakub Patiyev to assist the Azerbaijani diaspora on this front.
