Azerbaijani President signs pardon order

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday signed an Executive Order pardoning a number of convicts. The President signed the order having taking into account the appeals of family members of convicts, the country`s Human Rights Commissioner and human rights organizations to the Head of State, as well as having considered the health, family conditions and good behavior of the prisoners during their conviction.

The order will see the release of 55 prisoners from their unserved prison term. Besides, 1 convict sentenced to correctional work and 6 persons imposed to fine will be freed from their penalty.
