Azerbaijan’s progress to EU integration backed

Co-rapporteurs of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly for Azerbaijan Pedro Agramunt and Joseph Debono Grech submitted a report on the outcome of visit to Azerbaijan (Jan. 31 - Feb. 2) at a meeting of the PACE Monitoring committee in Paris on Tuesday, head of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov told Trend on Wednesday.

Seyidov, who participated in the meeting of the Monitoring Committee, said the co-rapporteurs informed about the human rights situation in Azerbaijan and noted the development of cooperation of local authorities with the European institutions - the Venice Commission, GRECO (Group of States against Corruption) and the Council of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

Seyidov said the meeting's participants clearly supported on-going European integration processes in Azerbaijan.

PACE co-rapporteurs for Azerbaijan Pedro Agramunt and Joseph Debono Grech will again visit the country in June, 2012 in order to study the situation with the meeting of commitments to the Council of Europe.

The visit of the co-rapporteurs is scheduled for June 10-15, head of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov told Trend on Wednesday. The report will then be submitted to PACE during the January session. Their previous visit took place from Jan 31 to Feb 2.
