Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva hosted Monday an official reception in honor of President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic and his spouse Tatiana Josipovic. The presidents made speeches at the reception.

Following the one-on-one meeting, Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Ivo Josipovic of Croatia have today met in presence of delegations.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed the meeting participants, saying:

“Dear Mr. President! Dear guests! I welcome You in Azerbaijan once again.
I am sure your visit will play an important role in developing relations between the two countries. We have discussed a number of issues on bilateral cooperation. There were sincere and open discussions. I am sure results of your visit will be successful and our cooperation will expand to cover a number of fields.

As we discussed today, there is a very active political dialogue between us. We have excellent political relations. Your visit is a good indicator of it. But, I consider we must also pay attention to other spheres of our life. Today, we have discussed economic cooperation and investment opportunities. I think successful development of bilateral relations will help establish better ties between our regions even more. Azerbaijan plays an important role in the Caspian Sea region.

You are one of the leading states in your region. In short, the close relations between the two countries will positively influence regional cooperation. I am sure results of your visit will be successful and our countries will get closer even more. I thank You very much for accepting our invitation and arriving in Azerbaijan. We agreed this visit in one of our meetings. I hope your visit will be interesting and fruitful.

President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic thanked for a warm reception and said:

“Mr. President, thank You for your reception and hospitality. I and our delegation are pleased to be here. The reason behind it is not only the political cooperation but also good opportunities for economic and cultural cooperation.

In a word, our delegation is ready to thoroughly discuss the future economic cooperation. We were aware of your big plans on making investments in the region. There are good cooperative opportunities between the Southeast Europe and the Caucasus region. Our countries had complicated history. Our experience is similar in terms of history. Our bilateral relations are based on mutual understanding. Today, we will sign three agreements. It is important as it will create conditions for economic cooperation. Thank You for your hospitality. I am sure that not only this meeting but also other meetings we will hold today will be useful.”

Following a ceremony of signing bilateral documents between Azerbaijan and Croatia, Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Ivo Josipovic have made joint press statements.

A signing ceremony of Azerbaijan-Croatia documents held in Baku with participation of Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev and President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic.

Director of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Nazim Ismayilov and Croatian Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Josko Klisovic signed a memorandum of understanding between the governments of Azerbaijan and Croatia on cooperation in the field of mine action and humanitarian demining.

Azerbaijani foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov and Croatian Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Josko Klisovic signed an agreement between the government of Azerbaijan and Croatia on exemption of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports.

Azerbaijani Foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov and first deputy Prime minister, minister of economy of Croatia Radimir Cacic signed an agreement between the Republics of Azerbaijan and Croatia for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and on capital.

Following the official welcoming ceremony, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva had a joint meeting with visiting President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic and his spouse Tatiana Josipovic.

Then, Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Ivo Josipovic of Croatia met in private.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia in a variety of fields. Good potential for strengthening the relationship was underlined at the meeting.

The importance of Croatian President Josipovic`s official visit to Azerbaijan for expanding cooperation between the two countries was highlighted at the meeting. The meeting also discussed bilateral, regional and international issues.

Croatian President Ivo Josipovic has today been given an official welcome to Azerbaijan.

A guard of honor was lined up for the Croatian President at the square decorated with the national flags of the two countries.

President Ivo Josipovic and his wife Tatyana Josipovic were welcomed by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva.

The Heads of State inspected a ceremonial Guard of Honor as an orchestra played the national anthems of Croatia and Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani state and government officials were introduced to President Ivo Josipovic, while members of the Croatian delegation to President Ilham Aliyev.

President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic has today arrived in Azerbaijan for an official visit. A ceremonial guard of honor was lined up for the Croatian leader at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport decorated with the national flags of the two countries.

The President of Croatia was welcomed by First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov and other officials. President Ivo Josipovic and the Azerbaijani First Deputy Premier had a brief talk in the airport`s VIP room.
