Azerbaijani First Lady and French Culture Minister attend Pearls of France exhibition in Baku - PHOTOS

Azerbaijan`s first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva and visiting French minister of culture and communication Frederic Mitterand yesterday attended Pearls of France exhibition in Baku.

Initiated and organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the event brought together public, political and cultural figures, representatives of intelligentsia, and heads of the diplomatic corps. The exhibition was supported by first lady Mehriban Aliyeva and French Minister Frederic Mitterand.

The exhibition, which will run for two months, will feature nearly 400 unique works by famous French painters, including Edgar Degas, Auguste Rodin, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Jean-Baptiste-Simeon Chardin and Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

Agreement to arrange the exhibition was reached by Mehriban Aliyeva and Frederic Mitterand during the Days of Azerbaijani culture in Paris last April. Speakers at the exhibition described the event as a new page in history of cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and France.

Azerbaijan`s first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva made a
speech at the exhibition. French minister of culture and communication Frederic Mitterand also addressed the event.
