Russia intensifies efforts in Karabakh conflict process

07 March 2012 [10:19] - TODAY.AZ
The election of Vladimir Putin as president will expand the relations between Azerbaijan and Russia in economic, political, humanitarian and other spheres, Deputy Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), MP Mubariz Gurbanli told the party's official website.

The relations between the two countries are at the level of strategic partnership, he said. The MP noted the new head of state will adhere to the same position in Russia's foreign policy. Gurbanli believes Putin will pursue a pragmatic policy to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

"On his initiative Russia will intensify its efforts in the negotiation process to resolve the conflict. I think that on the initiative of Russia's new president serious decisions related to the settlement of the conflict may be taken. Our expectations for the problem are associated with the restoration of justice, and here the position of Russia is of particular importance," the Deputy Executive Secretary of the NAP stressed.
