Georgian President awards Azerbaijani MP

Head of the Azerbaijan-Georgia inter-parliamentary friendship group, MP Ganira Pashayeva was awarded the Order of Honor by Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. An event on the occasion has been held today in the Georgian Embassy in Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Teymuraz Sharashenidze highlighted the history of friendly and fraternal relationship between Azerbaijan and Georgia. He said there are strong cooperative relations between the two countries` inter-parliamentary friendship groups. The diplomat read out the Order signed by President Mikheil Saakashvili on awarding Ganira Pashayeva the Order of Honor.

Pashayeva described the Order as an appreciation of the work of members of the Azerbaijan-Georgia interparliamentary friendship group. She said the group`s members spared no efforts to develop interparliamentary ties between the two countries.

The MP also underlined the role of presidents Ilham Aliyev and Mikheil Saakashvili in strengthening relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia. She also added this policy of the presidents must be an example for interparliamentary friendship groups.

Addressing the event, MPs Jala Aliyeva, Sadagat Valiyeva, Flora Gasimova, Gular Ahmadova, Ilham Mammadov and Professor Gazanfar Pashayev said relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia meet interests of the two countries and peoples.
