President Ilham Aliyev helds series of meetings - UPDATE - PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received the World Bank`s delegation led by Theodore Ahlers, Director for Regional Strategy and Operations.  Ahlers expressed satisfaction with his participation in discussions as part of the second High-Level Economic Policy Forum co-organized by the Azerbaijani Government and the World Bank in Baku.

President Ilham Aliyev underlined the importance of the second High-Level Economic Policy Forum.  The Head of State noted development of non-oil sector in Azerbaijan would be one of the main priorities in the future when the country completes the first stage of its economic development.

They praised long-term successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank in banking sector, expressed confidence it would further develop.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received OSCE Minsk group co-chairs Robert Bradtke of the United States, Igor Popov of Russia and Jacques Faure of France as well as Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.

During the meeting, they discussed the current state of and prospects for the peace talks on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday met Polish counterpart Bronis?aw Komorowski who made a stopover in Baku en route to Afghanistan. 

The sides praised development of relationship between the two countries in varisous spheres, as well as political, economic, energy ones.  They also expressed assurance that bilateral relations would continue to expand.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday met Ricardo Lagos, former President of Chile, Chairman of the Foundation for Democracy and Development.  The Head of State underlined the importance of Ricardo Lagos` participation in the High-level second economic and political Forum co-organized by the Azerbaijani government and the World Bank in Baku.

Ricardo Lagos said indicators of Azerbaijan`s achievements featured in the Forum`s session made a deep impression on him.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received Prime Minister of Tatarstan, Russian Federation Ildar Khalikov. The Head of State congratulated the Tatar Prime Minister and the people of Russia on successful completion of the presidential elections.

President Ilham Aliyev said the cooperation between Azerbaijan and subjects of Russia, including the Republic of Tatarstan is rapidly developing. The Head of State underlined there were good opportunities to expand these relations even more. On importance of reciprocal visits in strengthening of the relations, the Head of State expressed his hope that the visit of the Tatar Prime Minister would help widen these ties.

The Prime Minister of Tatarsan said he has arrived in Azerbaijan with a large delegation comprising the representatives of government structures, business, finance and banking sectors. Mr. Khalikov stressed the importance of boosting cooperation.
