'Opposition still lacks unity '

28 February 2012 [19:10] - TODAY.AZ
Chairman of the Liberal Party of Azerbaijan does not consider each word said by opposition parties as a proposal.

"We can say that we know all the parties inside out. Therefore, we do not consider their each word as a real proposal," chairman of the Liberal Party of Azerbaijan Avaz Temirkhan told Trend on Tuesday.

Some time ago the Karabakh political bloc, which consists of the opposition Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (DPA) and the opposition party Umid, sent a secret letter to opposition parties. It emphasizes the importance of the unification of the opposition. Azerbaijan National Independence Party also spoke with such proposal.

"Karabakh block put forward a proposal which we could not accept. When new proposal arises, we will express our attitude to it," Mr Tamirhan said.

He noted the opposition can not unite because some parties and their leaders put their personal political and corporate interests above the common ideas of the opposition.

"We will continue to work, and will unite with anyone we believe it necessary and won't unite with whom we don't," Mr Tamirhan said.
