Istanbul opens exchibtion on Khojaly tragedy

A two-day photo and art exhibition reflecting the tragedy of Khojaly was opened in Istanbul`s Taksim subway station today. The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Intigam Babayev, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States Halil Akinci, Azerbaijani MP Jeyhun Osmanli and witnesses of the genocide made speech in the ceremony of opening of the exhibition, the Islamic Conference Youth Forum said. They advised to strength work for informing other countries about the tragedy of Khojaly and called on the international community to increase efforts to bring those, who committed the Khojaly massacre, to justice.

Assistant professor of the Research Centre of Marmara University Nesrin Sariahmedoglu made speech “From 26 February till today” which reflected the essence and historical aspects of the tragedy. “Justice for Khojaly” International Awareness Campaign was initiated on May 8, 2008 by Leyla Aliyeva, General Coordinator of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation. The campaign for moral and political-legal recognition of the tragedy was launched in more than 30 countries.
