Azerbaijan`s President receives French Senate’s delegation - PHOTO

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received today deputy chairperson of the France-Caucasus friendship group, head of the France-Azerbaijan working group, member of the Centrist and Republican Union political group at the Senate, senator Mrs. Nathalie Goulet and her accompanying delegation.

The delegation includes senators Sylvie Goy-Chavent, Jean-Marie Bockel, Hervé Marseille, André Reichardt and Jeanny Lorgeoux.

President Ilham Aliyev thanked Mrs. Goulet and other senators for their just position during the discussion of the law criminalizing the denial of the so-called “Armenian genocide” at the French Senate. The Head of State described the law as an initiative, which distorts the history, contradicts democracy and freedom of speech. President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope this law based on false information would not come into force.

For her part, Mrs. Nathalie Goulet said she and visiting senators would spare no efforts to contribute to expanding relationship with Azerbaijan. She added they would inform the Azerbaijani community in this direction during the meetings they will conduct in Baku.
