Azeri Ombudswoman meets PACE co-rapporteurs

Azerbaijan`s commissioner for human rights Elmira Suleymanova yesterday met co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Pedro Agramunt de Mora and Joseph Debono Grech.

During the meeting, Suleymanova stressed the Ombusman`s Office successfully cooperate with the European Council`s and European Union`s projects including Twinning, TAIEX and Eastern Partnership.

They expressed confidence these relations would continue to develop even more. Suleymanova also said Azerbaijan condemned the French Senate`s passing a bill criminalizing the denial of the so-called “Armenian genocide.”

She said the adoption of the bill serves falsification of history and contradicts fundamental human rights, freedom of speech and expression, truth, justice and the principle of democracy. The co-rapporteurs praised the activity of the Office.
