EXCLUSIVE: Damian Chapa nearly dies while shooting "Brando Unathorized", reveals reasons

26 August 2010 [21:05] - TODAY.AZ
A few days ago, I was browsing the net, and stumbled upon some interesting news, such as – a known director/writer/actor Damian Chapa, whom I have interviewed already, nearly died in an accident, filming his new movie about Hollywood legend, Marlon Brando. I decided to contact Chapa, and find out, what happened to him, and how the shooting of “Brando Unathorized” is going on.

“I am in Rome, as we speak, to finish the film. It’s a very interesting movie, and I am proud of it. I hope people will understand my passion in it, and what I am trying to convey,” Chapa said.

“It’s really not about the Hollywood Dream, but the Hollywood lie,” he added.

As far as his accident is concerned, Chapa seems to be the lucky one, surviving this kind of crash, as he told me how it all happened.

“Yes, it is true, the motorcycle came slamming down to the concrete and smacked my head against the concrete. I injured my both hands as well. I did get through it however. The doctors at the hospital gave me 2 weeks in bed, and I must be woke up every hour for the first nights because of the concussion. I told them that I can be lying in the bed for 2 weeks, I have to film tomorrow, and doctors gave me this strange look. I don’t know how it happened, but we were able to continue filming the very next day, and I am still in a lot of pain from the accident. There’s one thing I know – the show must go on,” Chapa explained.

Well, on our part, we surely wish Chapa to recover from this horrible accident, and continue doing what he loves. And, of course, we can only guess what will “Brando Unathorized” be like, when its all wrapped up and done.
