Russian painter presents exhibition dedicated to Muslim Magomayev

An exhibition titled “Muslim Magomayev. You are my melody”, dedicated to the renowned singer Muslim Magomayev and his homeland Baku was held at the Russian Information and Culture Centre in Baku. The event was organized by the Azerbaijan office of Rossotrudnichestvo, an agency operating within the structure of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whose goal is the promotion of international cooperation in Science, Culture, and Education.

The exposition features over 20 paintings and drawings and more than 20 photographs by famous Russian painter İrina Zagovorcheva. This is her 55th solo exhibition. Highlights of the exhibition include two portraits of Muslim Magomayev.

Irina Zagovorcheva’s artworks are held in Edith Piaf Museum in Paris, Baku’s Museum of Music Culture, Russian State Duma and personal collections.

The opening of exhibition was addressed by Mr. Vladimir Pozdorovkin, representative of Russian Embassy in Baku, film director Eldar Guliyev, Head of the Azerbaijan’s Tatar community Guljan Myasoutova, composer Telman Hajiyev and others.

The event also featured Timur Abdikeyev, soloist of the St. Petersburg’s Marrinsky Theater, and Suleyman Suleymanli, student of Baku Music Academy, who have performed songs from the repertoire of Muslim Magomayev. The participants also received a CD dedicated to M.Magomayev’s father, who died during the WWII, and a book by Muslim Magomayev.
