World-famous Azerbaijani pianist Elchin Shirinov continues to promote the country’s rich musical culture around the world by participating in numerous international festivals in many countries, including France.

The young pianist has brilliantly performed at the Jazz in Marciac festival in France, Azertag reported.

At the festival, the jazz trio consisting of Elchin Shirinov (piano), Avishay Cohen (bass) and Noam David (drums) amazed music lovers.

Elchin Shirinov belongs to the new generation of Azerbaijani jazz musicians, who combines elements of post-bop jazz, blues and funk.

The pianist and composer was tutored by great musicians such as Vagif Sadikhov, Aaron Goldberg, Kevin Hays, Jean Michel Pilc and Yakov Okun.

Many music enthusiasts from France, Switzerland, Germany, Malaysia and other countries are well familiar with the unusual talent of Elchin Shirinov.

In 2018, Shirinov went on a tour with an Israeli jazz double bassist, composer and singer Avishai Cohen. The national pianist joined Avishai Cohen Trio and gave a number of spectacular concerts abroad. The musicians successfully performed in Japan, Hungary, Sweden, Germany and other countries.

In October 2018, they thrilled their music fans in Malmo, Sweden. At the concert, Avishai Cohen Trio performed with the Malmo Symphony Orchestra.

After the concerts in Sweden, the musicians gave fascinating concerts in France and Germany. In France, the trio performed with a symphony orchestra conducted by Bastien Steele.

Founded in 1978 in France, Jazz in Marciac festival is now a world-renowned happening. The festival takes place over a period of three weeks, usually from late July to mid-August.

As its long-time fans know well, Jazz in Marciac is much more than just a summer festival. All day long the whole village is the scene of a myriad of activities: free concerts on the square, art exhibitions, films, a market with local products and stands selling craftwork from further afield, not to mention the cafes and bars at every turn.
