Azerbaijani musicians shine in Astana

Astana hosted the 10th Traditional Turkic Music Festival "Astana-Arkau" on July 3-4.

The festival "Astana-Arkau" is annually held in honor of the Day of Astana. The event is organized within the integration conception of the Turkic world, initiated by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The 10th jubilee festival brought together 30 singers from Iran, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Mongolia and China.

Astana residents and guests of the festival enjoyed colorful feast of Turkic music of various genres.

The brilliant performance of Azerbaijani trio-brothers Nurlan and Arslan Novrasli and Kamran Karimov left no one indifferent, BNews.kz reported.

Nurlan Novrasli is honored artist of Azerbaijan and singer. He also plays on  kamancha.

Arslan Novrasli plays on tar and oud, while Kamran Karimov, honored artist of Azerbaijan, plays on naghara and davul.

"Bayati Shiraz", musical modal system in mugham, performed by the Azerbaijani musicians was greeted by the audience with thunderous applause.

Mugham is a form of folk music belonging to the people of the East. This is a sample of classical music, based on oral tradition. Mugham is the basis of Azerbaijan folk music, and "Bayati Shiraz" - a lyrical mugham is considered one of the seven main mughams. Many Azerbaijani folk songs and dance tunes are based on "Bayati-Shiraz".
