The feature film "Nabat" by Azerbaijani director Elchin Musaoglu will be screened at the Five Lakes International Film Festival.

The film is included in the main competition program of the film festival, which will be held in Germany from July 29 to August 9.

Around 100 full-length and 30 short films will be screened at the festival.

The Five Lakes Film festival is one of the fastest-growing film festivals in Germany. It also serves as an exhibitor of art house productions in the Five Lakes region, south of Munich. It’s the festival director’s intention to present a diverse selection of international films and productions from Central Europe that have not yet had theatrical distribution.

Nabat was shot in 2014. It is dedicated to Karabakh war, which resulted after Armenia's unjustified territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

Elchin Musaoglu, who has directed more than 50 documentaries and feature films, decided to make this film after being moved by a friend’s real-life experience during the war..

The story revolves around the residents of a village, who are forced to leave their homes because of an ongoing battle, but there is an old woman who refuses to leave her family members buried in the village.

In his interviews, the director has said, as in all conflicts, that it is the mothers who suffer the most.

"Paradise must be found beneath the mother's feet. I sincerely believe that if the mothers were in charge, the world would be a better place," says Musaoglu, the winner in "The Best Foreign Film" category at the 42th Houston International Film Festival in Texas in 2009.

The full-length feature film was awarded with many other prizes in many other influential festivals. It was screened at the 71st Venice International Film Festival in Italy and presented in the 27th International Film Festival in Tokyo, Japan. The film was also screened at the 50th Chicago International film festival and at the 26th Palm Springs International Film Festival in Los Angeles.
