Baku hosts int'l conference on historic urban landscape

An international conference entitled “Heritage Under Pressure – Perspectives of Historic Urban Landscape (HUL)” has today started in Azerbaijan`s capital. The partners of the event are the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism, The International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) of UNESCO World Heritage Center, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction and the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation of Italy.

According to the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism, scientists, experts and politicians of the relevant sphere from more than 50 countries are attending the international conference.
A photo exhibition on Azerbaijan`s cultural heritage and cultural objects in the occupied territories was demonstrated as part of event.

Opening the conference, Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev noted that the conference features discussions on treating the urban development of historic cities – especially World Heritage Cities –, against the background of the latest UNESCO Recommendation on Historic Urban Landscapes. The conference featuring 4 sessions will last till Sunday.
