An event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of creation of Baku Museum of Miniature Books took place this week. The founder Zarifa Salahova told of history of the museum and role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in development of the museum. She underlined the museum was opened on April 23 2002 by the order of Heydar Aliyev.
Mrs. Salahova said numerous countries have sent the congratulatory letters on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the museum. Currently, the museum covers 5215 books from 73 countries. A size of rare three books published by Japanese Toppan is 2X2 mm.
Over the past 10 years, 144,159 people visited the museum; 23 thousand of them were foreigners. More than 9 thousand people signed the memory book. Last year, the museum gifted 33 miniature books on life and activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The academicians Abel Maharramov, Ziyad Samadzade, Arif Mehdiyev, people`s writer Chingiz Abdullayev, head of Sabail power Asif Asgarov, Serbian ambassador to Azerbaijan and others told of significance of the museum, praised Zarifa Salahova`s activity and wished the staff success.
Baku Museum of Miniature Books is the only museum of miniature books in the world, settled in the old part of Baku, called Inner City. Its activity started on April 2, 2002. Exhibits exposed in the museum were collected by eminent artist Tahir Salahov`s sister Zarifa Salahova over the period of 30 years. Her own collection consists of more than 6500 books from 64 countries of the world.
