Azerbaijani pianist Zuleikha Abdullayeva aged 9 took the first place at the Nikolai Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Paris. Abdullaeva performed Arabesque #2 by Claude Debussy, "Sweet Dream" by Tchaikovsky, Bach’s Two-voice invention and Czerny etude.
The Nikolai Rubinstein International Piano Competition has brought together participants from 25 countries including France, Russia, Germany, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Poland and Slovenia.
Zuleikha Abdullaeva is studying at the High School of Art under the National Conservatory of Azerbaijan and this is her second major success at international competitions. In June, 2011 Abdullaeva successfully participated in the 14th International Music Competition ‘Pietro Argento’ in Italy.
