A movie “The Precinct” is representing Azerbaijan in the 2nd International Film Festival in Balneário Camboriú – CINERAMA.BC, Brazil.
The International Film Festival is the main window of CINERAMA.BC, where films have their domestic or international premiere and are all in competition. Both domestic and international films compete in the same category. The curatorship focuses on presenting films from both consolidated and first time directors, in an effort to stimulate different sensibilities.
In the Opening Edition of the Balneário Camboriú International Film Festival – CINERAMA.BC, the audience will give one prize for each category, thus having the chance to give the Best Film Award to one work from the International Film Festival, one from the New Media International Showcase, and one from the Catarina Showcase.
The prize given by the audience will be the Golden Owl. For the 2012 edition, new categories to be defined by a jury comprised by artists and film industry professionals will be created.
A young Azerbaijani actor Timur Odushev was awarded Hollywood Young Artists Award for his role played in “Precinct” movie in nomination of the “Best leading role in foreign movie”. The awarding ceremony was held in Los Angeles city of California, US.
“The Precinct” is a co-production between Azerbaijan (“Narimanfilm”) and Georgia (“Georgianfilm” & “Bagira Films”) which was developed within the framework of the Independent Film-makers` Association – South Caucasus (IFA-SC) training program. The film starring Zaza Bejashvili (Georgia), Melissa Pappel (France), Vagif Ibrahimoglu (Azerbaijan) and others was shot by the Azeri film director Ilgar Safat. The movie unveils the mystical story of a famous photographer, who makes a trip to his childhood. The production of the movie was funded by the Azeri ministry of culture and tourism and PASHA Bank.
