The British Council – Azerbaijan organized a photo exhibition dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens, famous English novelist of the 19th century. The opening of the exhibition took place on Jan. 25 at Baku’s shopping and entertainment center Park Boulevard.
Addressing the opening ceremony, British Council Country Director in Azerbaijan Paul Clementson said 2012 was announced a Year of Charles Dickens by the British Council, and a program which includes many events, is aimed at promoting his immensely popular legacy. The photo exhibition features 32 works of Azerbaijani photographers.
The exhibition is on until February 8. Dickens enjoyed a wider popularity and fame than had any previous author during his lifetime, and he remains popular, having been responsible for some of English literature's most iconic novels and characters.
