Azerbaijan, IMF discuss cooperation in securities market development

The Azerbaijani State Securities Committee and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) discussed the possibility of cooperation in the field of securities market development in the country, the committee said.

The meeting was held on Feb. 11 during deputy head of the IMF's Middle East and Central Asia Department, the head of the mission on Azerbaijan Nadeem Ilahi's visit.

Rufat Aslanli, the chairman of the committee, the country's stock market increased by 37% in 2010. The corporate debt instruments market increased by 2,5 times. He said that the IMF technical assistance played an important role in providing liquidity on the secondary market.

IMF mission head shared his views on the development of securities market of Azerbaijan.

They discussed the issues of mutual interest.
