Azerbaijan supplies about 6mln c/m. of gas to Russia per day

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) carries out gas deliveries to Russia in the volume of 5.5-6 million cubic meters a day, Head of the Production Union "Azerigaz" Akbar Hajiyev said. SOCAR owns the PU.

The gas deliveries are carried out in accordance with amendments to the medium-term contract signed with the Russian company Gazprom at the rate of two billion cubic meters a year.

In 2010, SOCAR delivered to Russia in an average of three million cubic meters of gas per day. A repair work was carried put on the Siyazan compressor station during September-November of last year and its work has been restored from Jan.1, 2011, Hajiyev said.

In 2010, SOCAR exported 799.75 million cubic meters of gas to Russia. In December 2010, about 40.32 million cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas was transported to Russia compared to about 60.8 million in November.

The medium-term contract on the purchase-sale of Azerbaijani gas to Russia (with the possibility of an extension) was signed between SOCAR and Gazprom in Baku on Oct. 14. According to the agreement, Gazprom will get 2 billion cubic meters in 2011 and more than 2 billion cubic meters in 2012. Azerbaijan began gas supplies to Russia on Jan. 1, 2010.
