Greece-flagged Minerva Astra tanker carrying 81,000 tons of Azerbaijani oil to Belarus reached Yuzhniy port in Ukraine on January 29.

The next oil tanker with Azerbaijani oil is expected to reach the port soon. The crude oil will be loaded into onshore tanks by the end of the day. Later, all necessary customs procedures will be conducted and the oil will be pumped to Belarus through Odessa-Brody oil pipeline, BelTA reports.
According to Belarusian Oil Company spokesperson Andrei Sinitsa, a contract for the supply of oil from Azerbaijan was signed between Belarusian Oil Company CJSC and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). As part of this contract, 4 million tons of oil will be supplied to Belarus in 2011.
The oil will be delivered to the Yuzhniy port in Ukraine and onwards will be supplied to Mozyr refinery via Odessa-Brody and “Druzhba” pipelines. The contract on pumping oil via Odessa-Brody was signed between Belarusian Oil Company CJSC and Ukrtransnafta JSC.
The spokesperson added that processing of high-quality Azeri Light oil at Belarusian refineries will bring additional income noting that these supplies are the beginning of a long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation. Oil shipments from Azerbaijan oil to Belarus will be implemented simultaneously with the supply of crude from Venezuela.
Trial pumping of 80,000 tons of oil to Mozyr refinery using the Odessa-Brody pipeline in the direct mode was carried out in November 2010.
