Minister: Azerbaijan achieved 16% growth in non-oil exports in 2010

Azerbaijan achieved a 6.2% increase in the non-oil sector in 2010, when 60 industrial enterprises were put into exploitation and construction of other 80 enterprises is underway, Shahin Mustafayev, the minister of economic development, said in an interview with state television channel AzTV.

"For instance, in term of chicken Azerbaijan depended on import only by 25%, but still the country has capacities to decrease the dependence. Twelve poultries are created through privileged financing, three of them have been commissioned," Mustafayev underscored.

At the same time, construction of 25 freezer storage complexes was launched and the majority was them was put into exploitation. Furthermore, 13 of 17 grains storages are under exploitation.

"One of the key achievements in 2010 was the growth of the non-oil sector by over 16%," Mustafayev added.

According to Mustafayev, six huge cattle breeding complexes are being built in the country by the private sector under the government's permanent control

"Complexes are located in Agdam, Agstafa, where it is built with the participation of a foreign investor, Kurdamir, Agdash, Salyan, Agjabadi, and they all meet the international standards," Mustafayev said.
