27 July 2010 [15:55] - TODAY.AZ
The transport corridor Azerbaijan - Georgia will soon become a real rival to the Russian and Iranian transport corridors, Prime Minister Nika Gilauri said today at a meeting of the Georgian government.
Georgian Prime Minister said that there are a lot of players in this project. There were problems, especially with private companies.

"We intend to attract additional cargo in this corridor. It is important that we have increased the competitiveness," he said, stressing that it is necessary to improve efforts to attract more cargo from the Russian and Iranian transport corridors.

Gilauri said that during his recent visit to Baku, a working group on development of the Georgian-Azerbaijani transport corridor was created. Goods will be transported from Europe to Asia. This will coordinate the work of all the companies involved in this corridor.

"This is a very important project that requires more efforts to increase the attractiveness of our corridor. We will work on it with our Azerbaijani colleagues," Gilauri said.
