Serbia interested in purchasing oil and gas from Azerbaijan

Serbia can import oil, oil products and gas from Azerbaijan, Nebojša Ćirić, State Secretary within the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development of Serbia said today in Baku.

"Our initial aim is to purchase oil from Azerbaijan, as there is a large petrochemical complex in Serbia," Nebojša said.

According to him, at the same time Serbia will hold talks regarding route, form and amount of purchase of gas from Azerbaijan. According to Ćirić, at present, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Serbia is not very high. He said that the country has great potential for expanding bilateral economic cooperation.

At present, Serbia exports pharmaceuticals and steel products to Azerbaijan.

"We also believe that there are great opportunities for expansion of cooperation in the sphere of agriculture," he said.

According to Ćirić, the second Azerbaijan-Serbia business forum will be held in Belgrade in September-October, 2010.
