The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) is going to stimulate the further development of electronic payment system of the country.

First Deputy CEO of CBA Alim Guliyev said that bank has started working out of new strategy of development of payment systems in the country.
“Its aim is to expand the population’s opportunities for wider use of electronic payment tools. In this direction it is planned to inform consumers about their rights during operations in payment systems that will allow to activate their use in the country,” A. Guliyev said.
In January, 2010, turnover of non-cash payments (through POS-terminals) via plastic cards of Azerbaijani banks increased to 7.5% of total turnover at decrease of quantity of operations to 2.33% of all transactions against 8% of turnover and 3.79% of quantity of deals following the results of January, 2009.
