Strong macroeconomic potential created in Azerbaijan: NBA Chairman

The tasks for 2009 are to analyze the measures under the conditions of crisis, devise anti-crisis program, bank policy, currency and rate policy, he said.

"The Government continues work on the anti-crisis program and consensus has already been reached," said Rustamov. The preventive anti-crisis measures, taken by the Government of Azerbaijan, allowed the country to demonstrate stability.

"International organizations say that even under the conditions of crisis, Azerbaijan exceeds the countries of CIS, East Europe and Central Asia on the rating of economic development, financial stability," said Rustamov.

According to him, strong macroeconomic potential has been created in the country and today the economy of Azerbaijan demonstrates immunity with respect to the crisis due to creation of financial reserves and conducting economic reforms.

"Maneuvering with these means, we can maximally neutralize the economic and social life of the country from the influence of crisis," said Rustamov.
