Natig Aliyev: "Gas prices remain unchanged, amount changes for Georgia"

On Dec. 13 the first well will come operational in Shah Deniz gas and condensate field, Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev said in Tbilisi.

He said the second will come on line in January 2, others in February, April and October, 2007, and the last one will be operational in early 2008.

Georgia will receive an additional 10 million cu m of Azerbaijan's gas via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline before the end of this year. Georgia's quota for 2007 will be set next week. The country’s demand is estimated at 1.8 billion.

As per the original contract, Georgia shall get 250m cu m of gas at privileged price and the ministers met in Tbilisi to increase the quota for Georgia for 2007.

Azerbaijan Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev told APA bureau that the prices will remain unchanged for Georgia while the amounts of gas supplies for this country will be increased.

Azerbaijan and Georgia will redistribute some part of Turkish quota originally set at 2.8bn cu m between Azerbaijan and Georgia and the amount will be compensated for during 2008 and 2009.
