05 November 2006 [14:11] - TODAY.AZ
According to BP-Azerbaijan, the company has made very good progress on Deepwater Gunashli (Phase 3) since the beginning of this year. The overall Phase 3 project progress is on schedule.

The Deepwater Gunashli (ACG Phase 3) Drilling, Utilities and Quarters Platform (DUQ) topsides in-country fabrication progress is 66% complete. The living quarters and drilling facilities, which are the only components of this platform fabricated abroad, were delivered to Baku from the Netherlands and Sweden in the second quarter of 2006. These modules, along with the drilling derrick, have been lifted onto the integrated deck during the third quarter of this year by McDermott Caspian Contractors Inc., AIOC's contractor for fabrication of the DUQ platform topsides.

The living quarters for the DUQ platform including the helideck were fabricated in Sweden by Pharmadule Emtunga AB, AIOC's contractor for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of platform living quarters.

The living quarters for the DUQ platform have been assembled from a total of 48 mini modules. The modules are designed to provide a three hundred-bed accommodation facility during the offshore hook-up phase reverting to two hundred beds during the operational life of the DUQ platform.

The DUQ jacket, which was built at Baku Deepwater Jackets Factory (BDJF) and is designed to be installed in 175 metres of water depth in Deepwater Gunashli, was loaded out onto the transportation barge in September The last jacket to be built for Phase 3 will be for the Production, Compression, Water Injection and Utilities Platform (PCWU). The construction of this jacket is approximately 40% complete.

The last deck to be built for Phase 3 is the PCWU topsides. The construction of these topsides at the ATA (Amec-Tekfen-Azfen) yard in Bibi-Heybat continues with progress to date of 58%. This deck is expected to be complete by the fourth quarter of 2007. AzerTAg
