Baku Port to be removed to Alat

Aydin Bashirov, the Chief of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ACSC), gave a press conference on activities and future of the Company.

He says the marine has 75 transport, 34 technical, auxiliary and servant vessels. The transport vessels are comprised of 40 tankers and 32 dry cargo vessels.

During the period of January-September 10 647 900 tonnes of cargo were carried by the marine. The cargo transportation grew 6.6% year-over-year in this period.

Passenger-carrying rose 9.4% year-on-year to 13 900 in number.

He says that new ships can be built or bought if the cargo transportation grows more. At present the Company doesn’t owe to the State

He also says that the shipyards will be transferred to Garadagh and Dockyard Union will be established there. Baku Port will be removed to Alat. Besides, small parts will be established in Zigh. A tender will be announced for the transfer and construction activities.

He says Azerbaijan's ships have Russia-sanctioned access to the Black Sea. "Azerbaijan's ships cross the Black Sea once a year as before. A couple of times it has been promised to solve this issue. Russia also loses for this restriction," he implies.

Mr. Bashirov says Baku Bay will be purified. "We are cleaning the territory through excavating vessel. We want people swim and fish in Baku Bay as before," he underscored, APA reports.
