02 March 2006 [16:01] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijani government considers the proposals by the local broiler factories on giving priveleges in relation to bird flu.

The Economic Development Ministry proposes to freeze coverage of arrears of broiler factories for communal services during 3 months, Trend reports quoting Heydar Babayev, the Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister, as saying at a news conference on Thursday. According to Babayev, they also propose the suspension of payment of arrears of broiler factories on taxes that is envisaged in the Azerbaijani legislation in case of force majeure.

Touching upon the sharp sale decrease of poultry, he noted that though the price of poultry products was due to drop, it was not observed in reality.

Besides the Azerbaijani government, the Asian Development Bank and the Japanese government render aid in the implementation of the measures on struggle with bird flu. Azerbaijan received $1m from the Japanese government. The Cabinet of Ministers allocated 3m AZN from the reserve fund for establishment of the material and technical basis at the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry, Education Ministry, and State Veterinary Service.

"On Wednesday the Azerbaijani State Commission on struggle with bird flu held a meeting with donors to coordinate the activities in relation to possible reception of aid," the Minister stressed.
