SMART-boxes may appear in large supermarkets of Baku

Launch of an online ordering service for goods using a special mobile application is on the agenda.

As the source stated, this application will contain the entire list of products presented on the shelves of the supermarkets.

"Using the distribution kit, the consumer can order the goods he or she needs and make payment. After that, the order will go to the internal supermarket system and an employee of the system integrator will select the ordered products and place them in the SMART box," the source noted.

Then, a notification message with a barcode will be sent to the user's mobile phone, using which he can open the SMART-box and pick up the purchase.

In conclusion, the source noted that SMART-boxes will be installed in such a way that customers can pick up their orders at any time convenient for them, without going inside the supermarket.

"However, in case perishable products are included in the order list, the buyer will be sent a notification stating that he should take his order within, for example, one hour. This innovation is primarily aimed at the convenience of users and at reducing the queue at the supermarket cash desks. The service will be paid and will cost the customer 0.50 manat regardless of the amount of the order. At present, an agreement has been reached with the investor on the project implementation in one of the major supermarkets of the capital," the source added.
