The Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan plans to establish cooperation with Russian colleagues, head of the association Sakina Babayeva told Trend Oct. 21.

She said that this issue will be discussed as part of the upcoming meeting October 22 in Moscow.

"We are invited for the first time to participate in the congress of women entrepreneurs, as part of which business meetings with our Russian partners are planned," she noted. "The exchange of experience in the field of women’s entrepreneurship in Russia is also useful for Azerbaijani women entrepreneurs as well, therefore we expect to learn a lot from our Russian partners. They have gained quite a lot of experience in business, but in Azerbaijan this area is still new."

She further noted that as part of the recent 9th Russia-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum in Baku, an important agreement on bilateral cooperation was signed, several points of which envisage promotion of women’s business development.

"In my opinion, this is a very important document, on the basis of which we will build our joint business in Moscow and Baku," she added. "At the same time, we are counting on mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation in the field of business, involving the creation of some kind of joint ventures. This may include sewing production or women’s salons, both in Russia and in Azerbaijan."

She noted that in Azerbaijan as a whole, great attention is paid to the development and expansion of small and medium-sized enterprises, and this is an incentive for the promotion of women’s entrepreneurship as well.
