Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee (SCC) and Turkey’s Ministry of Customs and Trade signed “A Plan of measures to improve cooperation and mutual assistance in combating customs offenses in 2018-2019” on June 28.

The signing ceremony was held within the second meeting of the Joint Committee on customs, which was attended by the SCC Chairman Safar Mehdiyev, Chairman of the Nakhchivan SCC Asaf Mammadov, as well as a delegation headed by Cenap Asci, the Adviser of Turkey’s Ministry of Customs and Trade.

Asci informed about the innovations applied in the customs system of Turkey, the ongoing projects and the work done for strengthening mutual cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

He noted that the large-scale projects in transport and logistics, implemented on the initiative of the two countries in recent years, will continue to contribute to the development of relations.

Mehdiyev, in turn, mentioned that the strategy of the Azerbaijani customs is aimed at creating favorable conditions for the development of legal trade in the region, ensuring the security of the international trade and supply chain and creating an attractive trade and investment environment in the country by stimulating foreign economic activity.

The meeting also discussed the development of cooperation within the Memorandum of understanding and agreement signed between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

At the end, the parties agreed to hold the third meeting of the Joint Committee next year in Baku.
