Azerbaijani Chamber of Accounts’ powers to be expanded

In case of revealing not only criminal, but also administrative offenses, the Azerbaijani Chamber of Accounts can send files about those offences to the relevant executive bodies, according to the amendments proposed to be made in the law "On the Chamber of Accounts", which were discussed at the plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament on October 31.

According to the current legislation, in case of revealing criminals offenses connected with the control over the management of state property, execution of the state budget, the state budget revenues obtained as a result of the privatization of state property, use of state budget funds allocated to legal entities and municipalities, the Chamber of Accounts immediately sends relevant files to the General Prosecutor's Office.

In the new proposed version, this part of the law (Article 2. The main functions of the Chamber of Accounts) is as follows: in case of revealing administrative offense or a crime connected with the control over the management of state property, execution of the state budget, state budget revenues obtained as a result of the privatization of state property, the use of state budget funds allocated to legal entities and municipalities, the Chamber of Accounts immediately submits the relevant files to the relevant executive body or the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office.

Moreover, if the relevant files were sent to the General Prosecutor's Office, from now on the files can be sent to the relevant executive body.

The amendments were put to the vote and adopted by a majority vote.
