Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping overhauls dry cargo ship

Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company is overhauling the Jafar Jabbarli dry cargo ship at the Zykh shipyard.

“All machine mechanisms of the ship were repaired,” the company reported on June 29. “Currently, welding work is being carried out on the hull of the ship.”

"The storage spaces will be modernized and the second layer of the hull will be installed as part of further repair operations," the company said.

The length of the Jafar Jabbarli dry cargo ship is 123.5 meters, width - 15 meters. Its speed is 11.7 knots.

The Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping CJSC was established by merging country's two largest fleets - the Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company and the Caspian Sea ??Oil Fleet of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic, on October 22, 2013.

The Company is comprised of the offshore support and merchant fleets and two shipyards.

The merchant fleet consists of 98 vessels: 34 tankers, 13 ferries, 14 universal dry-cargo, 2 Ro-Ro ships as well as 35 different auxuliary ships. And the offshore support fleet is comprised of 188 vessels of which 21 crane vessels, 22 supply and tug vessels, 29 passenger ships, 2 pipelay barges, 7 firefighting vessels, 5 geological survey vessels, 11 diving support vessels, and 84 other support vessels.

Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company plays connecting role in the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA), provides marine transportation of goods and passengers along with Trans-Caspian Sea as well as  provides offshore support services for oil and gas operations.
