Azerbaijan, Bulgaria keen to increase tourist flow

Azerbaijan and Bulgaria discussed measures to increase the bilateral tourist flow. The discussions were held during a meeting of Bulgarian Minister of Tourism Nikolina Angelkova with Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev, Trend reported.

Among the topics discussed were measures to facilitate the visa regime. Further, both sides agreed to work on developing a program for using the opportunities of Bulgarian SPA and sanatorium products by Azerbaijani citizens.

Angelkova informed Mammadguliyev that during the 105th session of the UN World Tourism Organization in Madrid, she held a conversation with her counterpart, Culture and Tourism Minister of Azerbaijan Abulfas Garayev, and already sent an invitation to the Minister to visit Bulgaria.

In turn, Mammadguliyev reminded that this year Bulgaria and Azerbaijan celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries, and joint events maybe held in this regard.  

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in June 1992 and the embassy of Bulgaria in Azerbaijan was opened in December 1999.

Intergovernmental commission on commercial and economic and scientific technical cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria was established in 1995.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria over the past five years amounted to about $ 1billion.
