The Tariff (Price) Council of Azerbaijan sees no reason for cheapening of gasoline in the country, despite the continued decrease in prices of oil in the world markets.

A source in the Tariff (Price) Council told Trend on September 3 that this is due to the fact that more than 95 percent of gasoline consumed in Azerbaijan is the gasoline of the AI-92 brand, produced domestically.

“The gasoline prices in the country are kept unchanged on the background of decreasing energy prices in the world market due to the fact that the expenditures affecting the cost of gasoline of the AI-92 brand have not changed. As the gasoline of this brand is produced domestically, the processes occurring in the world market do not affect its price. Therefore, we are not discussing changing the gasoline prices at the moment," the source noted.

The share of the gasoline of the Premium Euro-95 brand, imported to Azerbaijan, is very small (4-5 percent) in total consumption, and the price of this brand is not regulated by the Tariff Council.

As of today, the price of gasoline of the AI-92 brand in Azerbaijan is set at 0.7 manats per liter and for Premium Euro-95 - at 0.95 manats per liter.

The official exchange rate for September 4 was 1 USD/1.0486 AZN.
