SOCAR expands network of filling stations

Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR has launched a new filling station in Ukraine.

The new premium class filling station was inaugurated in Obukhov town in Kiev region. It will sell A-92, A-95, A-95 Nano fuel and Nano diesel. There is a cafe and a shop in the area of the filling station as well.

Azerbaijan's energy giant SOCAR continues to steadily develop its filling stations network both in the capital of Ukraine and other regions.

SOCAR Ukraine, which represents SOCAR in Ukraine, owns over 60 refueling stations in the country. Some 40 gas stations are operating under the SOCAR brand in the Kyiv, Odessa, Lviv, Nikolaevsk, Rovensk, Cherkasy, Khmelnytsky and Poltava regions of Ukraine.

SOCAR invested over $160 million in the development of business in Ukraine from 2009 to 2013.

SOCAR Romania

Speaking at Summit of Foreign Investors in Bucharest Head of SOCAR's Romanian office Hamza Karimov said one of the main goals of SOCAR is to cover 10 percent of refueling marker of Romania.

He noted SOCAR is among the 10 largest companies investing in the Romanian economy.

SOCAR entered the Romanian market after buying local filling stations from Romtranspetrol and re-branding them in 2011.

To become one of the most important players in fuel distribution in northeast Romania, SOCAR plans to increase the number of its gas stations in Romania to 100.

Currently, the total number of SOCAR filling stations in Romania is 30.

SOCAR, which is keen on expanding operations in the retail oil products market abroad, is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in the domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan.

It has representative offices in Georgia, Turkey, Romania, Austria, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Britain, Iran, Germany and Ukraine, and trading companies in Switzerland, Singapore, Vietnam, Nigeria, and other countries.
