Israel, Azerbaijan eye co-op in field of agriculture

Agricultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel was mulled at a meeting of Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister Ismet Abbasov and Israeli ambassador to Azerbaijan Rafael Harpaz.

Abbasov highlighted the country`s accomplishments in the field of agriculture, saying the foundations of this successes were laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev.

"This policy is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev," he added.

Abbasov also spoke about the government`s attention to developing agriculture.

Regarding the bilateral ties, he said a draft agreement "On Cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the State of Israel" was submitted to relevant state agencies to learn their opinions and proposals, and would be sent to the Israeli side in the coming days.

Harpaz vowed to spare no efforts to contribute to expanding agricultural cooperation.

The diplomat also presented Azerbaijani minister an invitation letter to the international VATEC exhibition on agriculture to be held in Israel in October.
