27 July 2012 [13:13] - TODAY.AZ
Under the new law, allowing foreigners to buy property in Turkey, citizens of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the Arab Gulf countries will be able to purchase property in Turkey without any preconditions, the Sabah newspaper reported on Friday.

According to the law, citizens of such countries as Armenia, Syria, North Korea, Cuba, Nigeria and Yemen are completely denied the right to acquire property in Turkey.

Also, citizens of several countries will be able to acquire property, observing certain conditions. Thus, citizens of Russia and Ukraine will not be able to acquire property along the Black Sea. Citizens of Greece will be able to purchase property in all regions of Turkey, except in coastal and border areas.

According to the new law, a foreign buyer may purchase up to 60 hectares of land, adviser to the Turkish Economy Minister Alparslan Uymaz told Trend earlier.

Uymaz said that it is now possible with the permission of the General Staff of the country in accordance with another amendment.

According to the law, more than 10 per cent of the total area of land plots in each province cannot be sold to foreign citizens.

Previously, only citizens of those countries in which Turkish citizens could buy a land plot, could become property owners in Turkey.
