SOCAR carries out ecological monitoring on fields in Caspian Sea

The ecology department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has held an ecological monitoring examination of the offshore fields of 'Oil Rocks' and 'Palchig Pilpilasi' in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the department said on Thursday.

According to the report, the monitoring was held using the vessel 'MPK-452'.

During the monitoring, samples were taken from sea water, animal plankton, phytoplankton and bed silts. The vessel's team also studied the physicochemical features of water with the speed being measured and flow directions defined.

SOCAR includes the production association Azneft (companies producing oil and gas on land and sea), Azerkimya (chemical industry) and Azerigas (gas distribution).
