Azerbaijani and Chinese provinces seek developed relations - PHOTOS

There is great potential for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the Chinese provinces, Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming said during a meeting with Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev in Beijing, the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry said on Monday.

The sides noted development of cooperation between countries in different sectors and the great potential for its further development, and exchanged views on expanding economic and trade relations.

Mustafayev spoke about the transit possibilities of Azerbaijan, in particular, the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, conduct of work in the country on the creation of industrial parks and invited Chinese companies to participate in these activities.

Following the meeting the ministries signed a memorandum of cooperation. In addition, a protocol was signed to establish a working group on trade and economic cooperation between the Ministry of Economic Development and the Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, as well as a memorandum of cooperation between the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and the China Europe Association for Economic and Technical Cooperation (CEATEC).

The delegation of officials and businessmen of Azerbaijan, headed by Mustafayev, from June 11, was on a visit to China. The Azerbaijani delegation also held meetings with a Deputy Minister of Commerce and co-chairman of the Azerbaijani-Chinese intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation, Zhong Shan, the head of International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Ai Ping, a deputy mayor of Shenzhen, Zhang Wen, during which they discussed the existing economic relations between Azerbaijan and China and its provinces and prospects for further cooperation.

In addition, Beijing and Guangzhou hosted with the organization of the Economic Development Ministry, AZPROMO and CEATEC Azerbaijani-Chinese business forums, each of which was attended by officials, more than 100 businessmen representing the banking, insurance, industrial, agricultural and other sectors of both countries.

During the visit the delegation also met with Azerbaijani students studying in China, and acquainted with the activities of the industrial park of Guangzhou and other enterprises.
